City projects under construction

Buckner Lane widening. The city is widening Buckner Lane from Buckner Road to Duplex Road from two lanes to five, two each way with a center turn lane, plus new traffic signals, according to the project page. The north segment (Jones Bros. Contractors, $17.8 million approved) was nearly complete in October 2025, with four lanes open or about to open between June Lake Boulevard and Wades Grove. The south segment (Mastec Civil, $10.2 million approved) started in June 2025. The city projects full completion in December 2026 and says closures will continue through the project.

Sewer rehabilitation. Spring Hill Water began its 2026 sewer rehabilitation in June, repairing manholes and related lines across the city. Expect work crews in neighborhoods and rights-of-way into early 2027.

Port Royal Road at Buckner Lane. The intersection will be rebuilt with dedicated left and right turn lanes, a smoother curve, sidewalks and crosswalks. The project page estimates about 18 months of work. Construction is now projected to begin in December 2026, according to the inspection and utility relocation contracts on the Board of Mayor and Aldermen’s Oct. 19 agenda, including a relocation agreement with Middle Tennessee Electric.

Repaving this year

On Aug. 3, 2026, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved the fiscal 2027 paving list, about $2.9 million of work by Rogers Group:

  • Subdivisions: Buckner Place, Deerfield, Golf View Estates and Hunters Pointe
  • Streets: Augusta Trace Drive, Derryberry Lane, Jacob Drive, Kedron Road (Saturn Parkway to I-65), Loudenslager Drive, North Old Port Royal Road, Prescott Way and Stewart Campbell Point

Streets were picked from Public Works’ annual survey of every road in the city; all are rated poor or very poor.
