A $50,000 state grant will pay for new flooring and plumbing repairs at the Spring Hill Community Senior Center on Maury Hill Street. Membership is free for adults 55 and older.
The Spring Hill Community Senior Center has won a $50,000 state grant to fix up its building. The money will pay for new flooring upstairs and downstairs and for repairs to plumbing problems throughout the center, the city said in a news release on Oct. 15.
The grant comes from the Tennessee Department of Disability and Aging. Commissioner Brad Turner presented the check at the center Oct. 14, according to the city.
Why now
Membership at the senior center is rising, the city said. “The City is committed to providing a safe and welcoming place for our aging population to gather,” the release said.
The city did not give a start date for the work. It said it looks forward to making the improvements “in the near future.”
