Opening a business in Spring Hill in 2026

Two things are different this year:

  • Sewer capacity. Under the state-ordered sewer moratorium, a new business in an existing space can get a permit without a sewer allocation only if a licensed engineer shows its sewer demand is no higher than the last tenant’s, under the city’s commercial tenant guidelines. New buildings need an allocation from the Board of Mayor and Aldermen. Details are in our building permits and zoning guide.
  • Food businesses also need a Tennessee Department of Health permit; see our restaurant inspections guide.
