The City of Spring Hill does not sell electricity. Power comes from local TVA distributors, including Middle Tennessee Electric (MTE), the member-owned cooperative whose lines run through the city; the Board of Mayor and Aldermen’s Oct. 19 agenda includes an agreement for MTE to move its lines for the Buckner Lane and Port Royal Road project. Some addresses on the Maury County side may be served by another TVA distributor. Your electric bill names your provider.

Reporting an outage to MTE

According to MTE’s outage center, you can report an outage three ways:

  1. The myMTE app or web portal, which also shows your outage status.
  2. The automated outage line, 877-777-0215. Have your account number, meter number or the phone number on your account ready.
  3. The 24/7 live support line, 877-777-9020.

Check the MTE outage map first to see whether your outage has already been reported and when crews expect to restore it. MTE also takes outdoor light and streetlight reports online from the same page.

If Columbia Power & Water is your provider

Columbia Power & Water Systems, the public utility that has served Columbia and Maury County since 1939, takes outage calls 24 hours a day at 931-388-4833, according to its outages page, which also links its outage map. Before you call, check that the problem is not in your own breaker panel; CPWS says it may charge for a service call to a customer-side problem.

Storm season

Get warnings before a storm reaches you:

During an outage

  • Treat every downed line as live.
  • Run a generator outdoors only, never in a garage or near a window.
  • Keep the refrigerator and freezer closed.
  • If a traffic signal is dark, treat the intersection as an all-way stop; report it to the city’s after-hours traffic line, 931-698-3891.

Starting service

New residents start power through MTE’s start, stop and move page, or CPWS’s start service page if the address is in its territory. Water, sewer and trash come from the city; see our moving to Spring Hill guide.
