Memorial Day in Spring Hill 2027: ceremony, closings, trash

Memorial Day 2027 is Monday, May 31. Spring Hill marks it a few days early with a ceremony at the Senior Center, and the holiday itself opens the summer: the splash pad at Fischer Park opens on Memorial Day. Trash runs a day late all week, and the library closes. The 2027 ceremony date has not been announced; the 2026 details are below so you know what to expect.

The Memorial Day ceremony

The city’s Memorial Day Ceremony and Open House is held with the Brigadier General Richard Winn Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution at the Spring Hill Community Senior Center, 563 Maury Hill St.

• 2026: Friday, May 22, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., with the ceremony at 10 a.m. Morley Levine, director of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1140, gave the keynote address, and light refreshments were served, according to the city’s flyer.
• 2025: Friday, May 23, at 10 a.m. at the Senior Center, with Mark Lewis, the Maury County Veterans Service director, as keynote speaker (2025 listing).

In each of the last three years the ceremony was on the Friday before Memorial Day (2024 entry). The 2027 date will be on the city calendar in the spring; we will add it here.

Honoring the fallen nearby

• The Spring Hill battlefield, Kedron Road at Reserve Boulevard, where the armies met on Nov. 29, 1864, has an interpretive walking trail (American Battlefield Trust).

Spring Hill sits in two counties, so veterans deal with whichever county they live in. The Maury County Veterans Service Office’s director spoke at the 2025 ceremony. For help with benefits, call your county’s veterans service office through the Maury County or Williamson County government sites.

Plan for the ceremony on the Friday before the holiday, and put your trash out a day late all week. Bring the children to Fischer Park on Monday for the splash pad’s first day.
